I'm new to this site, and new to freeciv but I love civ2 and I think it's great that freeciv allows players to contribute to this great game. I'd like to start working on a custom ruleset based on the civ2 rules, but with some additions and changes I think are pretty good ideas. One of the things I'd like to do is add one or two new government types to the game, which leads to my question.
I looked around the freeciv site for a while and found information about how to customize existing governments, but I didn't see it written anywhere that it's possible to create an entirely new one in addition to all those that exist. Is that possible?

- As far as I know all you have to do is edit the ruleset. So copy a ruleset dir and go edit goverments.ruleset and effects.ruleset (mind you, editing effects.ruleset is a lot of work) --Tjal 10:09, February 18, 2010 (UTC)
But will that actually let me add entirely new governments without replacing old ones?

Ok, thanks. Do you know someone else who did something similar to what I want to do whose example I can follow? 166.137.9.240 20:02, February 18, 2010 (UTC)Xanthophyll
