Flagged as part of the military game settings, this option would result in the total destruction of a city once it has been captured. I find that sometimes as a solo player I really don't want to capture enemy cities, so I go into the editing menu to destroy the newly captured city. Having this option flagged would certainly change how the game is played, for both players and AI. It's also based on the notion that other countries could be incompatible species.
- If there are no compelling reasons to keep conquered cities I also like to get rid of them. If it's far away from any area I'm interested in or very near to allied territory I simply give it to the allied AI. At the "normal" level AIs apparently always accept gifts. Otherwise I sell all buildings starting with the granary, enable the "disband into settler at size 1" option on the settings page, and use a special governor to shrink the city. If I allow maximal food losses (-20) a gold factor 3 usually works for me. In rare cases (food +4 or similar) I need two settlers, one to get from size 2 to 1, and another settler to disband the city. Cities on "non-food" tiles can be disbanded without building a settler. –Dunnoob (talk) 12:15, December 15, 2013 (UTC)
