I have a long list of saved games that I need to delete How do I do that, I am a new player " axa1962'

Find the directory that contains the .sav.gz files, and delete the files. For my computer, the directory is /home/kernigh/.freeciv/saves. (The .freeciv directory is invisible, so you might need to show hidden files.) You can also rename the files; I moved save1-game7.sav.gz to game1-save7.sav.gz, so the list item changed from save1-game7 to game1-save7. --Kernigh 17:55, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

create a game, go to save as, and just click and delete one at a time.. i know its epic, you'll learn to love it =D Tylan4life tylan4life

I create a shortcut to that folder, and place it on my desktop next to my Freeciv icon. That makes purging old games pretty painless, using normal Windows methods.

How do you do this on ice cream sandwich device? Running freeciv on HTC one x. Need to delete a lot of games!

1) Download a file manager type app like "File Manager HD". It doesn't matter which one you pick.

2) From your topmost (home) directory, tap the directory named "pl.org.zielinscy.freeciv".

3) Tap Saves directory

4) delete all of the .gz files. They are named and dated so you can make sense which to delete in case you would like to keep some.

These may also be archived either by copying to a memory chip, or through USB (if you have one on that ice cream sandwich) to a flashdrive or micro hard drive.

Just out of curiosity, how many hours have you played on that thing? I would think it would be a little cramped playing freeciv that way.

Thanks. Have also discovered that I can edit the files via my pc. My HTC has the biggest screen after the the Samsung note that but now that I know I can play free civ on my pc I will probably play on there.

The file format is the same so you can move the files over to your windows, mac or linus box. The UI is different, and there are many more options, including multiplayer games. More details on this elsewhere on this wiki. ~ Phlox 19:50, September 24, 2012 (UTC)
