Where is the .sav file format documented?

There's no description of the save file format other than the source code that reads and writes it. See server/savegame2.c for the current format, server/savegame.c for the old format (only supported for backward compatibility). -- JTN (talk) 18:39, August 27, 2013 (UTC)

Also, does FreeCiv still have a map editor built in, if so how do we run it?  Remember CivWorld map editor, did it die or evolve?

Yes, there's a map editor built in to the Gtk client since 2.2. Edit > Editing Mode from the menus, or Ctrl+E. Documentation is a bit lacking; Editor may give you some clues (but isn't completely in sync with reality). -- JTN (talk) 18:39, August 27, 2013 (UTC)
