Longturn, is a way to enjoy Freeciv with lots of players, it takes alot longer, up to 6 months, to play a game, but you can play it just alittle but every day. At the moment (Jan. 2007) there is a longturn game at http://longturn.org being played by 22 players. If you want to start a new one you can register at that site, and ask if someone is intersted in starting a new game.
Game rules
Because longturn is played for such a long time, the game rules have changed alot to make the games faster (6 months instead of a year).
Things longturn needs
- Diplomacy with offline players
- Communication with player that aren't online.
- Making drawings on the maps to convey concepts of borders, attack paths etc.
- #fine grained diplomacy options
Diplomacy
To make diplomacy work, to make alliances and trade tech, in longturn you must both be online. Further it very hard to organise stuff, with out resorting to out of band communication, e.g. email or webforum.
The options ruling over diplomacy needs to be finer grained, so you can shut off all diplomacy save techtrading.
Drawing
The ability to draw lines and place your own messages on the Freeciv game field would greatly help in communication. It would work like a diagram showing what you mean. This is if could be done in game would make thing alot easier.
