- May fortify, granting a 50% defensive bonus.
- May pillage to destroy infrastructure from tiles.
- Gets double defense against units specified as 'mounted'. In 2.6.2 Classic, this includes Horsemen, Chariot, Knights, and Dragoons. (But not Cavalry, glitch in ruleset?)
- May become veteran through training or combat.
