I could not find where the savegames are stored. Neither in the help, nor by searching my file system for specific savegame files. --86.125.163.133 20:20, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Iron Man[]

Civilization 2 and Alpha Centauri both had an "Iron Man" option, which didn't exactly stop the player from save scumming, but presented enough of an obstacle that temptation wouldn't get the better of him. At the end of the game, the player's score got a pretty sizeable boost to reflect the effort. Of course the real goal of the designers in providing this option was to offer a compelling reason to play the game honestly, and to consider each move carefully. It wasn't just part of the exercise for me. It was the point!

What are the odds of seeing (something like) this in a future release?

Thanks!

Finding saves on Windows[]

To find the savegames on a windows machine, go to "C:\Users\ (Your username) \AppData\Roaming\.freeciv".

Inside there is a folder called saves with all the files in it. 101.163.75.43 01:15, May 12, 2012 (UTC)

Suggestions for improvement.[]

I would like to suggest an instant replay option for the last turn.  From what I see, it seems this is already a topic of discussion.  I understand that for the die hards, this option would be seen as nothing more than a cheat.  However, for someone that is just learning the game, this would be an extremely helpful learning aid.  Besides, I would think that adding a stiff penalty to the final score for the use of the instant replay would suffice to encourage users to not use the feature once they are more skilled.

It would also be nice if the user could load a game from within the main game menu, rather than having to exit the entire game and restart from scratch in order to load again.

Anyway, just some thoughts for improvments....
